MARIA DEL BOSCO:
A Sound Opera Sex & Racing Cars)
Written, Directed and Designed by Richard Foreman

Birth, and copulation, and death.
That's all the facts when you come to brass tacks.
Birth, and copulation, and death.
- T.S. Eliot "Sweeney Agonistes"

...the end of all our exploring

Will be to arrive where we started

And know the place for the first time.

--T.S. Eliot "Little Gidding"

When I began rehearsing this play, the three leading ladies were Helmut Newton style fashion models. Midway that image lost its resonance, and they turned into disheveled would-be ballerinas. Many other things changed. What never changed was the impulse to see performers drifting against a web of music and language -- with aphoristic phrases overlapping -- telling the truth -- but contaminated with fantasy and desire, as is always the case.
-- Richard Foreman
